Malev Boeing 737-800 HA-LOC touched down in the rain mid morning, arriving from Budapest as MA1414 with the Hungary football team and official for their midweek international against England at Old Trafford.

Sunday 28th May

Air Berlin Airbus 320 D-ABDD paid a first visit, operating the afternoon AB8264/8265 schedule from Hamburg.

The evening saw Air Pullmantur Boeing 747-200 EC-JFR touch down from Faro as TOM6272 flying for Thomsonfly.

Air Ambulance Learjet 35 C-GAJS arrived mid evening to park on the NEA ramp, heading off to Budapest before nightfall.

Saturday 27th May

Swiss European RJ-100 HB-IYS first-visited on the morning LX390/391, wearing a special livery to promote Zurich Airport. The aircraft is the former G-CFAE.

Atlasjet sent Boeing 757-200 TC-OGT on their weekly OGE6113/6114 flight from Istanbul.

A busy NEA ramp was graced at various points during the day by, amongst others, Sikorsky 76 G-LJRM, Falcon 2000 N48WK and Learjet 55 EC-INS.

Friday 26th May

Excel Airways boosted capacity for the summer, with former Helios Airways Boeing 737-800 5B-DBH re-appearing as G-OXLB, and Miami Airways' N733MA reverting to G-OXLA.

Both were in action during the day, with 'LB heading off to Hurghada as XLA2300 and 'LA flying to Kavala and Malaga as XLA2134 & XLA248.

Thursday 25th May

Air Class Airways Boeing 737-300 EC-JSL positioned in early morning as VSG888P to operate a charter to Zakynthos, returning during the evening as VSG1361. The aircraft is the former EC-IEZ of Hola Airlines.

Thomsonfly continue use of Boeing 737 aircraft on flights from Manchester, and G-CDZI was noted in service during the day to Thira as TOM3323.

Estonian Airlines borrowed Slovak Airlines Boeing 737-300 OM-AAD to operate the evening OV115/116 schedule from Tallinn. Estonian are expected to terminate the route on 29th June. 

Executive movements included a visit from Turkish Learjet 60 TC-ARC, a morning arrival at NEA to daystop.

Wednesday 24th May

A rare visit of type saw DA42 Diamond Twin Star F-GYGM make an appearance during the morning, parking on the NEA ramp.

In the early hours, Gulfstream 550 N789RR passed through westbound and Challenger N359V also spent the first part of the day on the executive apron.

The evening saw the latest Embraer 170 of Finnair, OH-LEK, debut on their second flight of the day from Helsinki (FIN937/938).

Tuesday 23rd May

Fischer Air Boeing 757-200 SP-FVR positioned in Monday evening to operate the rest of Helios Airways' ZU547 Newcastle to Larnaca flight, which originally diverted in Sunday afternoon. The aircraft returned later as ZU414, eventually heading back to Warsaw.

Pegasus Boeing 737-800 TC-APZ made an appearance from Palma as XLA227/226 during the afternoon, flying for Excel Airways.

GA and executive movements included another visit by Aero Commander N840TC as well as RAF 125 ZD621 (RCJ41) and Netjets pair CS-DFB (NJE551N) & CS-DMF (NJE974Y).

FlyGlobespan Boeing 767-300 G-CDPT arrived from Glasgow to operate a Monarch charter to Corfu and back as MON1828/1829.

Cathay Pacific Cargo Boeing 747-200F B-HIH appeared in the gloom mid morning on the CX001 freight schedule devoid of the usual paint and nicknamed 'silver bullet' whilst the carrier evaluates cost saving.

Challenger 601 N39CD touched down at midday as "Worldwide 39" to park remote.

On NEA, Gulfstream 5 N551M departed early afternoon after nightstop, whilst another G5 -N73M- arrived late evening.

Monarch Airbus 321 G-OZBL (the former G-MIDE) operated to Faro (ZB580) and Tenerife (ZB568) during the day.

Titan Airways Boeing 737-300 G-ZAPW positioned in to fly for Monarch to Venice as MON8818/8819, later heading off to Bournemouth.

Air Italy Boeing 757-200 I-AIGC first-visited, operating for Helios Airways from Larnaca and out to Gatwick as ZU414/415.

Travel Service Boeing 737-800 OK-TVC positioned in mid afternoon as AEU435P to cover a flight for Astraeus to Pula. The aircraft wears a basic livery similar to that of Malaysian Airlines.

Canadian Armed Forces C130 Hercules 130335 touched late afternoon as CFC2399, and will nightstop.

Balkan Holidays recently acquired Airbus 320 LZ-BHE, and the aircraft paid its first visit on the morning BGH5505/5506 charter.

Thursday 18th May

Although not a Ringway movement, plenty of interest was to be generated by the first appearance in the skies above Manchester of giant Airbus 380 demonstrator F-WWDD. The clouds parted and the aircraft flew over the city whilst inbound to Chester Hawarden late morning 

Back at the ranch, aircraft of note included Leichtenstein registered PA31 Cheyenne HB-LRV, outbound after nightstop mid morning.

On the airliner front, there were first-visits by Delta 767-400 N833MH (DL154/155) and Qatar Airways A330 A7-ACI (QR043/044).

Northwest Airlines DC-10 N225NW diverted in during the morning, inbound to Gatwick from Minneapolis as NW44.

Delta Airlines commenced daily Boeing 767-400 service from New York JFK, with N832MH arriving on the inaugural DL154 during the morning.

Almost home from home from its Fort Lauderdale base (!), Boeing 737-200 N787WH touched down in warm sunshine early afternoon to park remote from the NEA apron.

Earlier in the day, Futura Boeing 737-800 EC-JRL visited on their weekly FUA9711/9712 Palma flight still wearing the basic livery of one time French charter outfit Air Horizons (F-GRNE).

Tuesday 9th May

Supporters arrived throughout the day from Ireland for an evening Manchester United v Celtic football match at Old Trafford.

Aviajet titled MD-82 9A-CDA the first in, touching down late morning from Dublin as MPJ9921.

9A-CDA was soon followed by the first of four Eirjet shuttle flights, with A320 EI-DKG in and out as EIR160/016P.

Late afternoon saw an influx of execjets including arrivals from Gulfstream 550 VP-BLR, Embraer Legacy G-YIAN (TWJ002) and Citation 650 N373DJ.

Canadian BAe 125 C-GKPP made two separate visits during the day, eventually leaving for Keflavik early evening.

Sunday 7th May

Continental Airlines recommenced twice daily service to New York Newark over the weekend, and with both flights now assigned to Boeing 757-200 equipment, 'wingletted' pair N12125 & N26123 debuted as CO20 and CO100 respectively.

Other firsts before and after the rain set in saw standard livery Qatar Airways Airbus 330 A7-AEA appear from Doha as QR41/42 during the morning and Bangladesh Biman DC-10 S2-ACP (looking a tad 'weathered' itself) pass through from Heathrow/to Dhaka as BG006

Finally, Air France sent latest Airbus 318 F-GUGM from Paris Charles De Gaulle on the mid evening AF1168/1169.

Air Adriatic MD-82 9A-CBJ (a late night Saturday arrival) flew the latest in a series of Hola Airlines charters to Kefallinia and back as HOA1334/1335.

A busy day at the Executive terminal saw Amsail Embraer 135 Legacy G-SIRA touch down as TWJ3 to park remote.

Northern Exec ramp arrivals amongst others saw Jersey based PA31 Navajo N3586D first in to daystop.

Learjet 45 OO-LFN arrived late afternoon for a near two hour stay using fixed call sign "Abelag 75N" (AAB75N).

Newly registered Citationjet 3 N96MR appeared for the first time briefly in the early evening drizzle.

Air Asia "Red Devil" Airbus 320 9M-AFC is expected to be on public display adjacent the Aviation Viewing Park over the weekend 5-6 May 2006. Click through for information.

Saturday 6th May

Lufthansa Cargo MD-11F D-ALCC arrived in the mid morning sunshine to park on the freight ramp, from/to Frankfurt as GEC8616.

Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-800 TC-JGH finally visited again, after previously making a fuel stop during the early hours of 28th January 2006 whilst enroute to Istanbul from the manufacturer.

With G-FJEC unavailable for action, FlyJet chartered Air Italy Boeing 757 I-AIGB and the aircraft positioned in to operate a delayed outbound to Sharm El Sheik as FJE868, returning in the early hours of Sunday.

Displaying the brand of Manchester United Football Club, Air Asia Airbus 320 9M-AFC arrived mid morning and will spend the weekend at Manchester Airport on a promotional tour.

New Airport Fire Trainer Flies in..

Well, maybe not! Manchester Airport took delivery of a replacement fire trainer on Friday 5th May 2006, but unlike it's predecessor (Trident G-ARPK), this craft never quite got off the ground! 

Thursday 4th May

Manchester Airport was graced with the rare appearance of DHC-6 Twin Otter during the afternoon, when D-IVER made a quick visit.

Airbus 330 OY-VKI appeared from the MyTravel Engineering facility briefly, now painted as C-GVKI pending seasonal lease to Skyservice.

Air France sent 'big brother' Fokker 100 F-GNLK in place of the usual FK70 model on their AF2568/2569 Paris flight late afternoon.

Freebird Airbus 320 TC-FBF visited from Palma as "Greece Airways 2414/2413" during the evening, operating for Air Scotland.

Rounding off the action, Metroliner EC-GPE of Zorex made an early evening visit as ORZ401/402, departing to Shannon and Norwegian Air Shuttle sent 737 LN-KKQ on their DY1340/1341 Bergen flight.

FlyJet recently secured the use of Boeing 767-200 G-FJEC (the former PT-TAH, CC-CJC, TJ-AAC & 5R-MFE), and the aircraft touched down at Ringway late afternoon as FJE900P to nightstop wearing a basic livery.

Earlier in the day, Etihad Airways continue to make use of their Airbus 330 fleet on the morning Abu Dhabi flight, with A6-EYB seen for the first time.
