Another week, and another batch of Saturday morning Austrian 'ski charter' movements, with Dash 8 OE-LGG & Boeing 737-800 OE-LNS arriving from Bolzano and Innsbruck respectively -both making their 2nd recorded visits to Manchester.

Notable GA traffic included a pair of Beech 200 King Air, with G-SAXN ('Silver21') and G-FSEU ('Clifton61') touching down almost in tandem at midday for an afternoon on the Northern Executive Aviation ramp.

Monday 25th December

After holding at Dayne for some bloke on a big sledge, Libyan Arab Airlines Airbus 300 5A-DLZ touched down in the early hours from Tripoli, visiting on a Hajj charter as LAA1106/1107.

Eastern Skyjets Jetstream 41 A6-ESK (the former G-CEDS/N571HK) remained parked off the Northern Exec ramp overnight and into Christmas Day.

Wearing the livery of Eastern SkyJets, Jetstream 41 A6-ESK touched down unexpectedly just after midday, and after a brief local flight, the aircraft returned to the NEA exec ramp.

Saturday 23rd December

Pakistan International accepted Boeing 777-300 AP-BHV into their fleet over the weekend, with the aircraft carrying passengers on delivery flight via New York & Manchester as PIA7182.

Austrian Airlines recommenced their annual programme of charters, with DHC-8 400 OE-LGB from Bolzano (AUA2371) and Boeing 737-800 OE-LNT (AUA9352) to Innsbruck.

Futura Boeing 737-400 EC-JSS arrived early morning to fly to Alicante & Almeria for Monarch Airlines as MON682 & 528.

RAF departures during the morning included classic TriStar ZE704 out to the middle east as RRR666Q.

Based Citation 550 N649DA recently adopted the marks G-SOVA, and remained parked off NEA alongside Learjet 45 G-MUTD (D-CEWR).

Friday 22nd December

Pakistan Int'l Airbus 310 AP-BEC continued its journey back to Islamabad as PIA792 having diverted in from Birmingham Thursday evening.

'RAF Ringway' saw visits from more military hardware during the day, with Hercules XV221 making an attempt to leave for Lyneham after nightstop as RRR5151, only to head back mid afternoon along with C130J ZH889 ("Ascot5605").

Bannert Air Gulfstream 100 OE-GBE arrived from Blackpool early morning as BBA182.

After dark, and with fog continuing to descend elsewhere, Saudi Gulf 4 HZ-103 touched down in the gloom.

Titan Airways Boeing 757-200 G-ZAPX arrived from Gatwick late afternoon as AWC734A and will nightstop.

Thursday 21st December

The 'shortest day' of year provided one of the biggest list of aircraft movements, with the continuing saga that is the UK in winter again contributing to another 24 hours of diverse traffic.

Notables amongst the many included Israeli Air Force Boeing 707 '272', Swiftair ATR-72 EC-JXF, VEGA Air AN-12 LZ-VEF and Air VIA Airbus 320 LZ-MDT.

Wednesday 20th December

Boeing 737-800 EI-DPD positioned to Liverpool mid morning having arrived from Girona as RYR9145, along with a trio of other Ryanair flights inbound to Liverpool from various destinations during the night.

Later in the day, a further array of unexpected arrivals from the south for an overnight stay included Royal Air Force VC-10 ZA147 (RRR9268) plus C130 Hercules pair XV290 (RRR5147) & ZH876 (JGN86) which couldn't make it into Lyneham.

Thomas Cook Belgium Airbus 320 OO-TCI was a late night arrival as TCW9143 diverting from Humberside.

Air France continue to send recent fleet additions, with Airbus 318 F-GUGO operating as AFR1168 from Paris CDG during the evening.

Tuesday 19th December

Weather diversions from elsewhere included a trio of Wizzair with HA-LPF, LPE & LPA arriving at Ringway from Warsaw, Gdansk & Katowice respectively with Liverpool closed due to poor visibility.

Icelandair Cargo Boeing 757-200F TF-FIH routed to Brussels from Reykjavik via Manchester as ICE706, missing out Humberside.

Earlier in the day, the weather also managed to cloud the visit of Helvetic Airways Fokker 100 HB-JVC from Zurich wearing their new livery (honest!), whilst Boeing BBJ VP-BYA remained parked in the mist and Qatar Airways sent Airbus 330 A7-ACK from Doha as QTR41.

Turkish Airlines also debuted an A330 with TC-JNA visiting from Istanbul as THY1995.

Air Contractors swapped equipment on their three flights between Glasgow and Manchester. 

West Air Europe ATP freighter LX-WAL paid two visits at either end of the day from Paris, whilst ATR-42 EI-FXD passed through from Stansted early evening.

Excel Airways' rebranding as "XL.com" continues apace, with Boeing 767-300 G-VKNH positioning from Bristol Filton at midday as XLA041P with new identity.

Exec traffic saw Dornier 328 D-CTOB depart with the Nancy football team early afternoon after a cup match at Blackburn, and a brief visit from Indian Gulfstream 4 VT-PLL late evening.

Thursday 7th December

Boeing 767-200 G-SJET positioned from Luton as FJE700P early afternoon wearing the livery of new FlyJet parent company Silverjet Aviation. The aircraft is the former G-FJEC.

With SU-PBE returned, Libyan Arab continue to utilise an array of Airbus 320 aircraft from other carriers, Nouvelair being the latest to oblige with TS-INK visiting from Tripoli as LAA106/107.

VEGA Antonov 12 LZ-VEB left for Luxembourg at nightfall as VEB1507 after an overnight stay.

Wednesday 6th December

Antonov movement #1 of 2 during the day saw RAF Avia AN-26 YL-RAA arrive mid afternoon for a quick visit as MTL1303/303F.

Late evening saw the arrival of Vega Airlines AN-12 LZ-VEB (VEA1506) to park on Stand 81 overnight.

Benfica football fans filled the other SATA International Airbus 310 -CS-TGU, arriving from Lisbon as RZO9882 at midday.

A breezy 24 hours across the UK led to numerous diversions during the day with Qantas 747-400 VH-OEC in early morning (QFA1 = Bangkok > Heathrow) and Swiss A319 HB-IPV (SWR400 = Zurich > Dublin) at midday.

Notable equipment amongst the regular schedules were Turkish Airlines Boeing 737 TC-JGN, Transavia 737-800 PH-HZV on KLM1083 and Lufthansa A300-600 D-AIAZ from Frankfurt (DLH4852/4853).

Smaller traffic braving the wind shear included Citationjet 525 D-ISHW out after nightstop, and PC-12 G-MATX gracing the NEA ramp briefly mid afternoon.

Martinair Airbus 320 PH-MPE was assigned to the early afternoon KLM1083/1084 Amsterdam rotation.
